Have you ever wanted something so badly that
you heard things that weren't being said? Maybe you've even seen something that really wasn't there. By this I mean you were a FOOL for love. I know many of us can relate to this particular topic. I hope you enjoy this piece.
Eyes Wide Shut
Foolish of me for loving you
With my eyes wide shut
For misreading your emotions
And for needing you too much
Foolish of me for thinking
You could love me beyond your bed
For letting the sound of your voice
Be a distraction in my head
Foolish of me for trusting
The eyes that lied constantly
For not realizing sooner
That your one and only I’d never be
Foolish of me for believing
That my fairy tale had come true
For listening to the music
That seemed so out of tune.
Now I know my life will go on
And the pieces of my heart I’ll pick up
But foolish of me for loving you
With my eyes wide shut.

I really enjoyed your poem ...... I know from experience, what it feels like to love someone, and the love is not returned....Keep up the good work... You have a lot of talent...
Well done! Write on!
deep poem, just sitting now thinking about my own relationship.eyes seem open and shut at the same time if u know what i mean.
You are so correct. I love it. I have been there and I will share this with you so that you can get the picture. Here goes:Our essence was suspended in air it seems. It was as though our essence(s) were weaved together in concert. It may have been our imagination, but we could not distinguish our own life form. We-at-that-moment-could-not-recognize-our-own-selves. We were at that instant, incorporeal. Our spirits were each other’s, which is why we could not identify our own selves. True Love it was, Heavenly it is. To love “My Lady” better than my person, begin heaven for me, guided by God’s itinerary. The great paradigm of this moment is that God’s freedom is within our own quintessence. Paradise is at this time; the world of expectation, hope, reaction, it is all at this juncture. We contain Agape at this time, if we contain it at this moment (Terse, Dr. Clarence Rucker, Jr).
Man I love this poem because it really expressed my feelings about how my relationship is right now, Im at the point where Im starting to feel that way...
